Matt and His Hot Honey Obsession

Most people got asked what their favorite sandwich was. I got told I was having one.

As Sergio was putting the menu together, we both knew that not every sandwich story was going to be perfectly scripted. A few spots still needed filling, and one of them ended up with my name on it—or at least my last name. Alexander had a little more appeal and sounded far more exclusive than Matt’s Club, so the choice was pretty easy.

The funny part is that I’m a chef myself, so you’d think I’d be the one creating my own sandwich from scratch. Instead, Sergio more or less volunteered me for the job and started throwing ideas my way.

Fortunately, he knew me well enough to know one thing: if hot honey found its way onto the sandwich, I was probably going to approve it.

After some brainstorming, a few tweaks, and more discussion than any sandwich probably deserves, The Alexander Club was born. It may have started as one of the more “embellished” sandwiches on the menu, but somewhere along the way it became one of my favorites.

It wasn’t exactly the way I planned on getting my name on a menu, but I’ll take it.
